Huawei has announced that the Honor View 10
will get face unlock feature in an upcoming OTA update. The rollout has
already started and will be available to everyone by January 24.
Face unlock works similarly to other phones, where the phone will
unlock the screen when you look at it. If your eyes are closed, the
phone will not unlock. Due to the low level security of feature, it is
only available for unlocking your screen and not things like online
payments.
What it can do is know when you are looking at your lockscreen and
expand the notifications so you can read them. If anyone else picks up
the phone the notifications remain hidden.
The feature can also tell when you are looking at the phone and won't
turn off the display even if you don't interact with the phone.
Lastly, the phone can tell you are looking at the screen and detects
the position of your head. What we assume this means is that if you are
lying in bed, the display will not rotate and maintain the correct
orientation.
Other things this OTA brings are the option to change the background
of your images while using the front camera, motion detection for front
and rear camera that detects a moving subject and captures the entire
movement and improved AI assisted image enhancement for high powered
digital zoom images.
